The Mantle of the Spiritual Warriors
Our world crumbles as the black curtain falls, destroying our dreams. Suddenly, our eyes open to a new revelation. We find ourselves in the midst of the moment. We move from our “center” rather than in response to a thought process. There appears to be no brain involved, no lag time, between perceiving something needing to be done and doing it. We overcome uncertainty. We uncover humility and find the determination to move forward.
Yearning has us leaning forward and calls us forth to do our best toward what it is that we have desired as human beings. Then, we discover that we are spirits experiencing a human experience. We are bigger than anything that can happen to our ‘being.’ We can stop struggling. This is where we win the conflict in the theater of our mind and have this new sense of power welling up within us, a power that calls us to become spiritual warriors.
A call to awaken ourselves and have the courage to ask the spirit within us to teach us the particular lessons that we need to speed up our transformation to authenticity. Through this transformation, our attitude will determine how we choose to interpret our life experience. It is also the way we react to life through choices and our understanding of our journey as spiritual warriors. Perhaps this is our major contribution to the quality of our human journey. Nevertheless, it is sticking with that uncertainty, getting the knack of relaxing in the midst of chaos, learning not to panic—this is the spiritual warrior path. Getting the knack of compassionately catching ourselves, cultivating/nourishing the needs of our soul, to release the wants of our EGO is the path of the spiritual warrior.
As we are embarking on becoming spiritual warriors, it is like getting into a very small boat and setting out on the ocean to search for unknown lands. With wholehearted practice comes inspiration, but eventually we will also encounter fear. Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to our authentic selves. If we commit ourselves to staying right where we are then our experience becomes very vivid. Things become very clear when there is nowhere to escape. The trick is also to keep exploring and not bail out, even when we find out that something is not what we thought.
Yes, we are courageous human beings. Yes, we are misunderstood by some. We are working each day to keep our dreams alive and hold out the hope that things will start to turn for us. It has been “difficult” or “challenging” at times and in truth ,life feels more like a battleground. A call to listen to our inner reality—we are becoming spiritual warriors. Becoming Spiritual warriors is to reach a state of enlightened re-embodiment -here and now-in which we transform our life and have a major insight into our purpose. This will require for us to build ourselves an arch of courage and embrace mindfulness.
Through mindfulness, we will invite into our lives the very lessons that frighten us most. We will also face forward into the winds of grace, presence, gratitude and focus on that single flame of truth to open the door to a whole new world. A world where we actually see the light that is within, act and work our way through our fears, reach within with a soulfulness attitude and clear the path to reclaim our inner territory and become spiritual warriors.
John-Roger said it best, "Life is not a matter of avoiding the tough lessons, but of extracting all we can from them for the advancement of our spiritual selves. The difference between a Spiritual Warrior and a lot of other people who wander around waiting for success, or love, or abundance to happen to them is that the Spiritual Warrior acts, not reacts."
